The Sorrell College of Business at Troy University is now accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), potentially making diplomas from the business school more valuable.
Dr. Judson Edwards, dean of the Sorrell College of Business, announced the accreditation of the institution on his LinkedIn profile.“The Sorrell College of Business at Troy University is now officially AACSB Accredited in Business,” Edwards said. “Our many years of work have paid off for all students, alumni, administration, faculty and staff.”
According to www.aacsb.edu, the accreditation indicates that “an institution has met the most rigorous standards of excellence in business education.”
Accredited universities “demonstrate that they are committed to upholding — and advancing — the quality of their programs both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.”
Jeremy Johnson, a junior financial economics major from Benton Harbor, Michigan, said the accreditation opens new opportunities for his career.
“I feel overjoyed that the school gained accreditation, because that opens up internship opportunities and career options that I wouldn’t have had before,” Johnson said. “Some of the top businesses exclusively hire applicants from AACSB certified schools, so the certification is incredibly valuable to be competitive in this ever-evolving job landscape.”
Stephanie Martin, a senior information systems major from Annecy, France, said her degree is now worth more domestically and internationally.
“I think it’s a great thing,” Martin said. “Once I graduate, my diploma will have a higher value recognized by the entire world making me more competitive on the job market no matter where I go.”
